Description
At first glance, the izotope relay plugin is a CPU-friendly utility for Mac that lets you adjust gain, panning, stereo imaging, and filter parameters of your tracks on the fly. When used alongside other iZotope plugins that support inter-plugin communication (IPC), it transforms into a gateway for numerous automated processes designed to streamline and optimize your entire mixing workflow on macOS.
Relay iZotope is applied to individual tracks, functioning as a compact mini channel strip with dedicated controls for gain, panning, high-pass filtering, and even stereo width adjustment. The plugin also communicates seamlessly with other iZotope products, enabling you to leverage machine learning features for masking removal, mix balance and focus, dialogue intelligibility monitoring, and much more directly on your Mac. As a quick and straightforward tool for trimming or sweetening audio, as well as for enhancing your overall production workflow, iZotope Relay is an excellent choice for any session template on macOS.
With Relay you can:
- Control panning, gain, width, and apply a high-pass filter to any track without needing to manually adjust your DAW faders, all while maintaining minimal CPU usage on your Mac system.
- View the frequency content of individual tracks within Tonal Balance Control 2, compare them against target curves, and make precise corrections to achieve your desired tonal balance in real time.
- Mix all of your tracks in a visual space using the Visual Mixer in Neutron 3: By placing Relay on your tracks or buses, you can open the Visual Mixer and adjust panning, gain, and stereo width directly within the Visual Mixer plugin included with Neutron 3 Advanced on your Mac.
- Measure intelligibility using the Intelligibility Meter in Insight 2: With the brand-new meter available in Insight 2, you can measure the relative intelligibility of your vocals and visualize how clearly they will be heard across various listening environments and playback conditions.
- Remove masking from vocals using Nectar 3: What is izotope relay in the context of vocal clarity? The plugin interacts with the Unmask mode in Nectar 3 and provides automatic processing to identify and remove masking frequencies from the vocal track. You can learn more about this powerful feature here.
- Visualize the spectrum of different tracks against the full mix using the spectrogram in Insight 2: Insight 2 communicates with individual instances of Relay and displays them on the spectrogram with fully customizable color coding for easy identification.
- With the izotope relay placed across all of your tracks on Mac, you can use Mix Assistant (available in Neutron 3 Advanced) to automatically set an initial level balance across your entire session, giving you a professionally calibrated starting point for your mix.
