U-he Diva

Description

Diva: Dinosaur Impersonating Virtual Analog synthesizer.

U-he Diva captures the spirit of analog synthesizers spanning five decades of sonic history. The oscillators, filters, and envelopes from some of the greatest monophonic and polyphonic synthesizers of years past have been meticulously modeled to deliver unmatched analog sound on your Mac. More than just a single synthesizer: recreate a beloved classic or combine different modules together to craft your own unique hybrid instrument.

Oscillators and Filters

Filters are at the very heart of the analog sound in u-he diva vst. The combination of real-time circuit simulation and zero-delay feedback (ZDF) filter design gives Diva its remarkably authentic sound character. With ZDF, the delays that typically arise when modeling analog circuits are dramatically reduced, resulting in far more realistic and authentic resonance behavior. (If you are curious, Urs has written a detailed blog post on ZDF explaining the technical foundations behind this approach.)

Diva models five distinct filters drawn from classic hardware synthesizers used throughout music history. All filters feature modulation parameters along with traditional cutoff and resonance controls, yet each one possesses its own unique character, quirks, and dedicated parameters that set it apart from the others.

Just like the filters, Diva's oscillators are also carefully modeled after classic analog hardware. Five oscillator models offer a broad spectrum of different tonal characteristics that fundamentally shape the overall sound, giving you a wide and expressive palette from which to begin creating your next riff, bassline, or lush pad on Mac.

All five oscillator models share common controls: waveform selection, octave range, mixing or independent output volume knobs, a noise source, and a wealth of modulation options. Plus several distinctive touches that are unique to each individual model, adding extra sonic variety and creative flexibility.

Effects and Envelopes

Simply switching oscillators and filters on and off like an organ would be extremely limiting in terms of expressiveness. Envelopes provide far more detailed and musically engaging results. Diva has two envelope slots — one dedicated to the amplifier and the other assigned to the filter — and both offer three different envelope models to choose from. Create softly rising ambient sounds, notes that slowly fade into the distance, or sharp percussive attacks with precision control.

As a finishing touch, you can take advantage of Diva's two stereo effects slots to polish your sound. In keeping with the vintage aesthetic, the available effects would feel right at home in recording studios from decades long past. Add spatial depth with plate reverb and delay, or introduce movement and animation with phaser, chorus, and rotary speaker effects. When you u-he diva download for Mac, you gain access to all of these powerful sound-shaping tools in one beautifully designed u he diva instrument.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is U-he Diva free?
Please check the developer's website for current pricing information.
